#1
Hello Smile

I am searching for information on the forums about timing belt V6 2.8 engine ...!!! problem is we had to remove motor head one part, because in the collector was broken screw. As a result, all marks of timing belt on the right position was loosen. Maybe some one know what the event, which marks the spot to look at whether the cylinder condition to be able to defer the back wright position? :Un or some manual can give?

Thanks ...

desumo,

there is a certain position for both camshafts and the crankshaft as well.
If you look at the front of each camshaft (that is where the timing belt wheels are mounted), you will see an oval metal plate with three holes. One is in the middle (that is where the center screw of the wheel sits). The two other holes are used to position the shaft. One of them is small, the other is bigger. At VAG you can get a tool which fits these two locator holes at each camshaft and thus get the two shafts aligned.
Secondly, you will need to put the crackshaft in correct position. There is a hole near the cranckshaft timing belt wheel, where a special bolt can be screwed in, fixing the crankshaft.

For further reference, please have a look at these pages in meckisforum: klick
and this topic in our FAQ: klick Unfortunately, the pictures are missing, but at least, you can see the numbers of the special VAG tools that you need for camshaft and crankshaft fixing. Perhaps, you can borrow these tools from a VW or Audi dealer.

Here, additional pictures, showing a misaligned camshaft klick and the fixation tool in action klick. (The rest of the thread is also very interesting)

Good luck with your repair!
sonnige Grüße
