Ach so... Thanks Sierra that's a relief!! Sorry my german has been so gebreckich..
To re-cap the story.. the car - a '94 Audi Cabrio - was fine when bought in Sept '10; roof opening automatically etc., all without problems. Only thing was that the plastic rear window was opaque and needed replacing. Had that done in November, and when the sun came out again in April I tried to open the roof again, and had the infamous 'roof opens up to the point where the roof storage compartment lid opens about 10 cm, then stops' problem. Called the guys who replaced the rear window but they said, well... well.. that's half a year ago... nothing we can do..
Anyway, as this issue appears to be common, as I found in many forums, I thought to tackle the problem - unknowing it would cost me the following 4 weeks...
-I've Redone the boot looms,
-Checked the roof hydraulic fluid,
-Checked the Boot lock actuator motor (v53). Opened it up, checked the PCB tracks. Measured it through. Put in on 12v on the bench
-Took out the seats and measured the lines between the Boot lock motor (v53) and the ECU / Roof controller (j256)
All ok.
Still having the problem that at Stage 1 of the roof opening sequence; I have one Bit in Block 1 (either bit 5 or bit 6) that doesn't want to join:
I either have 10110011, or 10111111, which according to the audi schematics and diagrams on this site should be 10110111 or 10111011.
Which means something is making the ECU (j256) think that the Boot is both opened (Bit 5) and Closed (Bit 6).
According to the Audi schematics, bit 5 and bit 6 are both coming from the v53 boot lock motor. Many forum threads and the FAQ on this site point to the Boot lock motor being faulty.
However, when I manually move the Boot lock motor (v53) from left to right (arm completely in or completely out) I also get either 10110011, or 10111111.
Above that, even when I take out the Boot lock motor (v53), and short the pins 6 and 2, or 6 and 1 inside the plug that normally goes to the Boot lock motor, I still get either 10110011, or 10111111.
From that, I presume the Boot lock motor isn't the problem.
Right?
The fact that I still am not 100% sure bit 5 and bit 6 are coming from the same microswitch in the Boot lock motor (v53), drives me completely cuckoo.
Then I took out the Boot lock Cylinder (as Jopetzi mentions earlier in this thread) but that seems to be working fine as well. I dont have my notes at hand, and not completely sure of the pin numbers, but from the top of my head: it gives a connection between pin 1 and 2 when turned all the way counter clockwise (position / , the point where if you release it, it jumps back a quarter to position -) and it gives a brief connection between 2 and 3 at the point right in the middle of - and |.
So both when its in the '-', and in the '|' position, there is no connection.
Is that ok?
If anyone has any further ideas where I could look, I would be more than delighted to hear.
Many thanks!!
