[Problem] Radio locked have code but no instruction book

Have a code although it's 7 digits not 4?
Have audi radio cassette player cannot find model...have looked other models pictures - no find..
This one has no circular knob only push buttons.
I do not have instruction booklet to set code..
Has been long ongoing problem as continually flatten battery & cause starting issues 
Where do I begin?
Pls help, I've had this special car for 15 yrs and love it to bits...
Would it be easier to put a new radio/ cd in OR would it create further problems with the "SAFE" anti theft locks!?..

As I remember, you first would have to push 2 keys together for a few seconds, then the display asks for the number. I can look into the instruction not now, but tonight, but in any case we would need to know the radio model, is it an Audi model, like 'gamma' or 'beta'?

Your local Audi/VW dealer is able to unlock the device. All what you have to do is to give him the serial Number and sign for ownership. This is the disadvantage, because you can find the number on radios backplate, only after dismounting.

Good Morning Angela,

If you have an Audi radio it should go like this:
- Switch on the Radio, <SAFE> appears on the display.
- Press U and M keys together, until <1000> appears on the display, stop pressing
- Input code no. using station keys 1 to 4:
- 1st Key for the first figure, 2nd key for the 2nd figure etc
- The first figure is always a 1 or a 0, the next 3 figures can be 0 to 9
- When this is done press U and M together again, until <SAFE> appears
- When the code no. was wrong, the display would flash, you would have 1 more entry try, if the next try is wrong again, you would have to wait for 1 hour for the next try and so on. During the 1 hour waiting the radio must be kept switched on.

Good success and lot of fun with your nice car! Are you from the UK? Only recently the old Audi Cabrio from Lady Di was sold for I think about 60000 P (or € not sure), which is in our opinion only a realistic approach to the real value of our cars
